THE LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION: The condo is located in the best neighborhood of Waikiki, where there are no hotels on the beach allowing for unobstructed access. Scandia Tower (our building) is a highly sought after destination due to its close proximity to the beach, Kapiolani Park, the Honolulu Zoo, the Aquarium, Diamond Head Crater and world class shopping and restaurants. The building is 17 minutes from the airport (with no traffic).
THE SPACE: Mauka Makai comfortably sleeps 6 with a king bed in the master bedroom, a queen sized bed in the second bedroom and a full-sized pull out sleeper sofa in the living room. The king bed can be separated into two twin beds depending on your family needs. Both bedrooms offer full sized bathrooms with standup showers.
The unit provides high speed wireless internet for streaming, gaming, or "working from home." The condo has three dining areas: the counter (3), the table (6) and the Lanai (4). The master bedroom contains a sit/stand adjustable office desk and chair for those who need a quiet space to work and the small bedroom offers a stationary desk of the same size. The kitchen is fully equipped with brand new appliances including full sized fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer. A coffee maker, blender, electric kettle, rice maker, and toaster are available for your convenience along with pots, pans, cooking and dining utensils, and dish sets.
After a day at the beach or exploring the island (we provide beach chairs, umbrellas, toys, snorkeling gear, etc.), wind down with a great book from our library of Hawaiian history/culture or invite your friends & family to play any of our card games & board games, from classics like Monopoly and Poker to gamer favorites like Pandemic, Munchkin, and Sushi! Go! You’ll also enjoy our collection of local art lining the walls of every room.
THE ISLAND: Staying in Waikīkī means you can typically reach any destination on Oahu in 45 minutes or less as long as you avoid rush hours. Make time to visit the beautiful North Shore of Oahu and plan to shop and dine in Haleiwa town and view the big waves in the winter. Spend a day in Kailua Town hiking the Lanikai Pillboxes, relaxing on Kailua Beach, or renting electric bikes. Enjoy amazing restaurants in the nearby neighborhoods of Kaimukī, Ala Moana, Kaka'ako, and China Town.
OTHER NOTES: The phone in the unit can also be used to make calls to the mainland and Canada as well as admit guests into the building from the callbox outside the lobby. Mauka Makai is located in the resort zone area of Waikīkī, which allows short-term vacation rentals. State and county taxes are 13.25% TAT (Transient accommodation tax) and 4.71% GET (General excise tax).

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation policy.
• Rentals less than 30 days. Cancellations must be emailed 30 days prior to check in date. If you email your cancellation 30 days before your check in date you will receive a refund of your deposit less a non-refundable $100 processing fee and the original 3.5% Credit Card processing fee. Cancellations within 30 days are subject to forfeiture of full deposit and any other monies you have paid for your dates that you have reserved.
• Rentals more than 30 days. Cancellations must be emailed at least 45 days prior to check-in date. If you email your cancellation at least 45 days before your check in date you will receive a refund of your deposit less a non-refundable $100 processing fee and the 3.5% Credit Card processing fee. Cancellations within 45 days prior to arrival are subject to forfeiture of the full deposit and any other monies paid.
• We will try to re-rent your dates reserved so that we can make a refund to you. However, if the dates are not re-rented, your monies paid will be forfeited
• For reservations and bookings moved ahead up to 15 months from the date of check-in, there are no fees or penalties. However the booking remains nonrefundable.
Deposit Policy
Rentals of less than days require a 30% deposit at the time of booking, with the balance payment due 30 days prior to arrival.
Rentals of more than 30 days require a 10% deposit at the time of booking, with the balance payment due 45 days prior to arrival
